What is ABR?
The Amateur Baseball Report (ABR) was developed to provide High School & Youth Baseball participants a way to measure national player status, gauge yearly progression, and provide an opportunity to gain national & international recognition and exposure from College Coaches and MLB Scouts. To achieve consistent and accurate rankings, ABR uses its unified and comprehensive evaluation system to rank individuals accordingly on the Regional, Provincial & National levels which are published on the ABR website.
As the Scouting Partner for USSSA Baseball (United States Specialty Sports Association) and its ancillary International Programs, ABR stands alone as the only comprehensive global exposure vehicle available to the high school & youth baseball communities today.
What is the ABR Canada High School Program (14u-16u) (13u Optional)?
ABR Canada was developed as a branch of ABR. The program is available to every House League, Little League, OBA, PBLO and/or Baseball Canada player. The program provides players (14u-16u) with an avenue to identify their current slevel and to see how they compare amongst others their age. Each player’s evaluation is posted and a player profile is created on our ABR website. This will allow each player the opportunity to continually improve on their stats, gauge yearly progression, and provide an opportunity to gain national & international recognition. ABR Canada uses College Coaches, past/present MLB Players/Scouts, ABR Scouts, or other qualified individuals to assist in the evaluation process. To achieve consistent and accurate results, ABR Canada uses its unified and comprehensive evaluation system to place individuals accordingly on the Regional, Provincial & National levels which are published on the ABR website under the ABR Canada icon. ABR uses the May 1st deadline for determining the age level of a player.
What is the ABR Canada Youth Program (9u-13u)?
ABR Canada will be running Instructional Camps for individuals between the ages of 9u-13u. ABR Canada Instructional camps will teach young players the correct fundamentals of baseball with an emphasis on developing the player’s five tools, which will help prepare them for a Pro Style (Five Tool) ABR Evaluation Camp as they become older. By teaching the proper fundamentals of the game of baseball with an emphasis on the development of the individuals’ five tools, ABR will prepare young players for the opportunity to someday play in the ABR All-Canadian Games*
What is the ABR Canada Process?
After attending the 5-tool skills evaluation, which is the Prospect ID Camp (14u-16u, 13u optional), participants will receive their results on their ABR Player Profile Page. The participants will have the opportunity to see how they compare amongst others their age and see what areas of their game may need further development. The top performers are featured are featured on the ABR website and invited to Regional and/or National events.
The top participants at the 14u-16u divisions will be invited to a prestigious ABR Canada Showcase, which will take place in the fall.
