With a big win at the USSSA Spring Fling tournament, the So Cal Hawks have busted out onto the scene as one of Southern California’s premiere 12 and under teams.

At the USSSA Spring Fling tournament, which took place from April 26 to 27 (the 12 and Under Major Division), the So Cal Hawks earned their first USSSA 12 and under major division tournament in grand fashion going 4-0. They defeated the Backyard Boyz 2-0, the So Cal Bombers 8-4, Team Anderson 14-5, and the Louisville Legends 6-4. The So Cal Hawks are no strangers to success though; this team won the CCYB 2007 championship as 11 year olds and qualified for both the World Series with USSSA and the Super Series.

The So Cal Hawks originated in 2006 as a secondary team to the Charter Oak All Stars Pony League in Covina, CA. In 2007 the team made the move to travel ball status, acquiring all-star caliber players from Covina, San Dimas, and Glendora. In 2008, the team qualified for the USSSA Western World Series and is travelling to Cooperstown, New York for competition.

The team is led by 6-foot-2, 215-pound Billy Sanford. Sanford was the first 12 year-old to hit a home run out of Angels Stadium at the newly built Big League of Dreams in West Covina during the USSSA MLK Super NIT. He leads the team with six home runs and is one of the team's top arms along with 5-foot-10 Nick Roubal. The duo is commonly referred to as the "Twin Towers." Both throw in the mid-70's.

The rest of the team consists of Chris Armstrong, Anthony Avila, Ryan Avila, Myles Clark, Evan de la Sota, Tristen Fickewirth, Alex Fraijo, Scott Hurst, Brandon Lucero, Cody Moreno, Gage Pucci, Andrew Reynoso, and Joey Thumm. The Hawks are coached by Manager Dan de la Sota, Head Coach Andrew Moreno, and Coaches Robert Avila and Joe Reynoso.
